In 2016 Room 19 enjoyed, Literacy Pro, Numero, the Super Scientist Competition, NAPLAN, Dancing, ICT time, Principal’s Challenges, Family Fun Night and a whole lot more. They made improvements in all learning areas and they made some lasting friendships.

Room 19 have written a few sentences about their Year 3 experiences. We hope you enjoy reading them.

My favourite thing this year was making new friends. But my absolutely favourite was Literacy Pro. I got 3 certificates this year – blue, red and bronze. (Kyah)

A fun thing about Year 3 was learning Numero. I improved in division a lot! (Koulah)

The best thing was Numero because it’s really fun and you can play with your friends. At the start of
the year I met new friends. The best time was when we did NAPLAN. (Olivia)

I liked it when I got my silver certificate in Literacy Pro. I liked the bouncy castle at the Family Fun Night because it reminds me of Bounce. I was very proud I got band 6 in NAPLAN. (Kavi)

I liked getting Literacy Pro certificates at the assemblies. The funniest part of the year was when Jacob’s hand was up and then he waved at Miss Dagostino. My favourite teacher was Miss
Dagostino because she let us do other work and not just tests. She’s the BEST! (Lochlann)

I improved in Numero because when I first started I wasn’t very good and now I’m one of the best. I improved in spelling because I used to be horrible at spelling and now I’m not. I improved in making PowerPoints because I didn’t know anything about them and now I do. (Meraj)

I liked the time when I got my blue and red Literacy Pro certificates because I read two Harry Potter books. The funniest time was when Daniel fell on the ground and he just laughed. It was also funny when Lochie ran into the oval fence. (Tynan)

My favourite is Literacy Pro because you earn certificates. My favourite subject was Maths because learning Maths is fun. The funniest thing was when Shawn made a funny face. (Jorja)

In 2016 the thing that I loved was making new friends because then you don’t feel left out. I liked chatting to my friends as well. Also I loved sports and cross country. There was a cross country competition that some of my friends got into with me so then I didn’t get so scared. I also liked playing games with my friends at recess and lunch. (Riley)

I liked when I learned the two times tables. I liked it when I saw my teacher for the first time because she was nice. I liked doing reading. (Brooke)

CLASS PARTY

To help us celebrate the end of the school year, we will be hosting a small ‘Class Party’ on Tuesday 13th December at 12.00pm. All students have been asked to bring in a plate to share. In the afternoon we will be playing games so the students can also bring in a board game.

SWIMMING LESSONS

On Monday 5 December Room 19 started our swimming lessons. Along with Room 7 we were the last group out of the whole school to begin swimming. Our first lesson was so much fun. We got to meet our swimming instructors and we got started on learning new skills. We are looking forward to the rest of our lessons.

FAMILY FUN NIGHT

On Friday 25 November the Family Fun Night was held at Wattle Grove Primary School from 4pm – 7pm. Room 19 and 23 joined together to run the Chocolate Toss Game. At first we thought that we were going to throw chocolates but that definitely didn’t happen!
The aim of the game was to try and land the counter on top of one of the chocolate logos on the little pond. It looked quite easy but it wasn’t at all. If you landed on top you won a big block of chocolate. If it fell through into the pond you won a little block. Everyone was a winner at Chocolate Toss! It was such a popular game that we had run out of chocolates by 6.30.
The Family Fun Night was a huge success. We look forward to having more!

NUMERO WITH ROOM 21

In Week 5, Room 19 challenged Mr Sanderson’s class, Room 21 to a Numero competition. It was so much fun playing against the Year 4s, 5s and 6s. We thoroughly enjoyed showing the older students how good our Mental Maths skills are.
In the first round Room 21 had 14 winners and Room 19 had 7. In the second round Room 21 had 20 winners and Room 19 only had 2. In the third and final round Room 21 had 18 winners and Room 19 had 3.
Although Room 21 won more games Room 19 definitely were up for the challenge and would love to verse them once again.
